no one can ever tell you your future. if anything, they should not call it your future,
but call it something that might have happened if they told you nothing.

hi, i'm mike mulligan
and this is my steam shovel mary anne
she can dig as much as in a day as a hundred men can dig in a week
when people stop and watch us
we dig a little faster and a little better
the more people stop the faster and better we dig
we dig much quicker than the new gasoline shovels
and the new electric shovels and the new diesel motor shovels
some days we keep as many as thirty-seven trucks busy taking away the dirt we dig
it was me, mike mulligan, mary anne and some others
that dug the great canals for the big boats to sail through
it was me, mike mulligan, mary anne and some others
who cut through the high mountains so the trains can go through
it was me, mike mulligan, mary anne and some others
who lowered the hills and straighten the curves to make the long highways for the automobiles
it was me, mike mulligan, mary anne and some others
who smoothed out the ground and filled in the holes to make the landing fields for the airplanes
and it was me, mike mulligan, mary anne and some others
that dug the deep holes for the tall skyscrapers and the big cities
now i'm so famous i got a giant moon crater named after me

i see myself and you
so i guess it's true
that you are dead
it was time for you to go
where to i don't know
but i'll meet you there
i know that time goes fast with you
time is all we had
so maybe it's too late
it was time for me to leave
where to i don't care
as long as i meet you there
things that can change
is changing all time
time is running out on us
sometimes i feel like you were near
still so far away
but i'll try to meet you there
wherever may be
coming there to stay
coming there to stay
coming there to stay
coming there to stay
i'll meet you there for sure
i'll meet you there for sure
i'll meet you there for sure
i'll meet you there for sure

catwings: hi guys!
miss buddha: hello! hello! how's it going?
catwings: why don't you guys introduce yourselves and what you do for the band.
erica: my name is erica and i am the singer and i play guitar.
gary d.: i'm gary d. and i play guitar.
kevin: i'm kevin and i play the cowbell.
raph: we sound like a librarians, but my name is raph and i play the bass.
catwings: do you just have a cowbell?
kevin: a big cowbell.
catwings: alright, alright, alright.
raph: it's not that big.
catwings: i think you should have, aww, that'd be awesome, like one huge cowbell. like a gigantic cowbell.
erica: almost gong-like?
catwings: yeah. that you'd play with a bass drum pedal.
kevin: no, actually, i play the skins.
catwings: alright. well, thank you guys for coming in and playing.
kevin: thanks for having us.
raph: thank you.
catwings: you finally have an hour and i'm stoked, because i have been trying to get you guys in here forever.
erica: i hope we can make it. we'd have to do a lot of stalling in between i think.
catwings: just talk a lot. talk about the songs and the originations and... anyhow, why don't you tell me a little about the band and the kind of music that you guys play.
erica: i guess the roots of it is kind of punk, but we have lot of influences as well, sort of rock-a-billy, a little bit of metal, some kind of jazzyish bits here and there. i don't know, what else would you guys think?
gary d.: some flamenco?
erica: yeah, a little bit of flamenco.
gary d.: i think you're gonna here exactly what erica just said you know. i mean, when we got together and we talked about doing this about two years ago now, we've been playing out for about for a year, about ten days it's been a year, about ten days i think, we all had different influences and different genres of music that we all sort of blended together and created about ten songs or nine songs that you'll hear tonight.
catwings: alright. i have a question, actually, about the name of the band. is there a reason, is there a weird story, or is it just pretty like...
erica: it was kind of random i guess. we were all eating dinner one night, and i think there was drinking involved. it was gary's birthday. we were trying to come up with names and we kept throwing stuff out there. somehow we started joking around about buddha and somehow miss got mixed into that. i don't remember why and it stuck. do you know the whole story? i'm having black outs about what happened.
gary d.: yeah, it was my birthday so i mean, i had the biggest black out. i think right before that, we were saying like, this buddha, that buddha, then we're all miss buddha, and you'd never think of buddha as miss buddha, but it sort of the way it looks both male and female. it could look anything you want it to look. so you know, miss buddha was funny. inevitably, you know, we're all here right now, erica brought us all together, so we all looked over at erica and she's like, and we gave her the big eyes. oh, i approve.
catwings: alright. you guys have an upcoming show, or upcoming shows.
erica: yeah, we have one on halloween that we're pretty excited about that's at the art after dark for the monster mosh.
catwings: i saw that. i thought that was hillarious, the name.
erica: yeah, i think it's gonna be fun. we're playing with 86 list, guttercats, the smiths, and democratic fistfights I think.
catwings: at the academy?
erica: and i guess hedwig is gonna do that thing too so it's gonna be pretty interesting.
catwings: that's awesome.
erica: i think it starts at 6:30 p.m. it goes from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and then we do have another show on november 8th at coffee talk. it's gonna be a unity crayons show. that one, i think there's gonna be several bands, i can't list them all.
catwings: you can probably go to the unity crayons website for that.
erica: yeah, i think white rose is probably gonna be headlining that one. we got the boys coming down from maui so, that one should be good too.
catwings: alright. anything that you guys wanna say or give any shoutouts? anything you wanna add?
erica: i think gary wants to say hello to his parents in california.
gary d.: hi mom. hi dad.
raph: what time is it over by now?
gary d.: hey, it's one o'clock in the morning.
raph: keeping your parents up, man.
gary d.: i know. i know. i forgot to thank you for the gift that you sent this week in the mail. thanks mom.
erica: i'll say hello to my parents too in texas. i doubt they're up right now, but maybe they'll catch it online later. hello mom, hello dad, i love you.
kevin: i just wanna say i love you to my baby, fumiyo. you're supposed to be listening, i hope you are.
raph: my wife is probably sleeping right now. but if you're actually listening, hey baby.
catwings: you guys can always make them listen to this recording afterwards too.
raph: there you go, i'm gonna force her to listen us.
erica: over and over and over.
catwings: alright, anything else you guys wanna add before i let you go and warm up?
erica: i hope you guys enjoy the show and thank you for everybody that's listening and supported us along the way. we're really excited to be here. thank you to miss catwings for having us.
catwings: thank you. okay, well i'm gonna let you guys go and warm up then, because you guys are gonna play live in about 9 minutes. thank you very much for coming.
miss buddha: thank you.
